Remove two nuts (9) and two washers (8) from bolts (4) .
Remove bolts (4), washers (5), spring assemblies (6) and tubes (7) .

Remove two bolts (10) and washers in order to remove plate (11).

Remove dowel (13) and wedge assembly (12) .

Remove four bolts (14) and washers in order to remove cylinder (15) .Repair of the Assembly

Remove gusset (1) from coupler assembly (2) and remove gusset (3) from coupler assembly (2). Note: Take care to avoid excessive damage to the coupler frame when you remove the two gussets.
Grind off any of the old weld that will interfere with the placement of the new plate.

Weld 338-2871 Plate (5) into position. Refer to Illustration 20 for the placement of the plate.
Apply a 10 mm (0.39 inch) fillet weld at location (4) and at location (8) .
Apply a 6 mm (0.24 inch) fillet weld at location (6) and at location (7).
Apply a 4 mm (0.16 inch) fillet weld at location (9) and at location (10). Assembly of the Coupler

Use four bolts (14) and four new 3B-4508 Lockwashers to install cylinder (15) .

Use dowel (12) to install wedge assembly (13) .

Use two bolts (10) and washers to install plate (11) .

Install two bolts (4) with two washers (5) .
Install tubes (7) onto bolts (4) .
Install spring assemblies (6) over tubes (7) .
Install two new 6V-7676 Nuts (9) and washers (8). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 425 50 N m (315 35 lb ft).Note: The nut will need to bottom out on the threads of the bolts in order to achieve the specified torque.

Use two new 8T-4195 Bolts (1), two new 8T-4186 Bolts (2) and four new 8T-4121 Hard Washers to install plate (3) .
