Information:
Which Generate This Code:The sensor supply is a power supply that is internal to the Computerized Profiler Control ECM. The sensor supply provides +8 DCV in order to operate the sensors. The CID 041 FMI F03 diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM reads the voltage of the 8 volt DC supply circuit (wire 827-BU) as higher than the normal voltage. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The 8 volt DC supply circuit (wire 827-BU) is shorted to the +battery circuit.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.System Response:The machine response is listed below:
The sensor will not operate correctly.
The sensor supply voltage will always be zero.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code CID 041 FMI F03 for the sensor is active. Also, ensure that the diagnostic code indicator is OFF in the ECM display.Test Step 1. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO THE +BATTERY
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector, measure the resistance from contact 40 (+V) to all possible sources of positive voltage. The possible sources of positive voltage are contacts 1, 10, 11, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38.Expected Result:Each resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
OK - Each resistance measurement is greater than 5000 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - One or more resistance measurements is less than 5000 ohms.Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between the wire (827-BU) and the circuit with the low resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOPTest Step 2. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS
Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter service mode 1 on the display of the three digit of the ECM. Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check the status of the CID 041 FMI F03.Expected Result:The CID 041 FMI F03 diagnostic code is active. Results:
OK - The CID 041 FMI F03 diagnostic code is active.Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. Refer to the Electrical Schematic of the machine and check all involved wiring harness connectors and wiring. Ensure that the connector contacts are clean. Also, ensure that the connector contacts are in good condition. Ensure that all the wiring of the machine harness are in good condition. If the cause of this diagnostic code is not found, replace the Computerized Profiler Control ECM. See the Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace" Story in this manual.STOP
NOT OK - The CID 041 FMI F03 diagnostic code is not active. The machine harness and the ECM are operating properly.Repair: The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
