Assembly Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.Note: Lubricate O-ring seals with a thin covering of the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install cartridge assemblies (9) to the shift cylinder. Tighten the cartridges to a torque of 80 5 N m (59 4 lb ft).

Note: Refer to Illustration 2 for the correct position of coil assemblies (7) .
Place two coil assemblies (7) on the shift cylinder. Install the two nuts and the washers that hold the coils. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 5 .5 N m (4 0.5 lb ft).
Install ball (8) .
Install three O-ring seals (5) and retainer (6) .

Install two O-ring seals (2) , retainer (3) , and spool (4) .

Place cover (1) into position. Install the two bolts that hold the cover . End By: Install the shift cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Shift Cylinder - Install".
