Removal Procedure (Transmission Output Speed Sensor)
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Disconnect harness assembly (1). Remove the bolt and retainer (2) and speed sensor (3) .

Remove O-ring seal (4) .
Repeat for the remaining transmission output speed sensor.Removal Procedure (Engine Output Speed Sensor)

Disconnect harness assembly (1). Loosen nut (3). Remove speed sensor (2) and seal (4) .Removal Procedure (Torque Converter Output Speed Sensor)

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install O-ring seal (4) .

Install speed sensor (3). Install the bolt and retainer (2). Connect harness assembly (1) .
Repeat for the remaining speed sensor.Installation Procedure (Engine Output Speed Sensor)

Install seal (4). Install speed sensor (2) until speed sensor (2) lightly contacts a gear tooth. Loosen speed sensor (3) for one half of a turn. Tighten nut (3) to a torque of 25 5 N m (18 4 lb ft). Connect harness assembly (1) .Installation Procedure (Torque Converter Output Speed Sensor)

Install seal (4). Install speed sensor (3) until speed sensor (3) lightly contacts a gear tooth. Loosen speed sensor (3) for one half of a turn. Tighten nut (2) to a torque of 25 5 N m (18 4 lb ft). Connect harness assembly (1) .
