(8) Inlet port for brake cooling oil Three relief valves (1) are located in the hydraulic tank. Two relief valves are used for the rear brake cooling oil. The other relief valve is used for the front brake cooling oil. These three valves control the maximum pressure of all oil that is flowing to the rear and front brake oil coolers. The relief pressure settings are controlled by the number of shims (3) that are in the valves. Refer to Specifications, "793B Off-Highway Truck Hydraulic System" for the relief pressure setting of these valves.Pressurized brake oil enters the relief valve through inlet port (8). The force of the pressurized oil pushes on the left end of valve (2). When the pressure of the oil exceeds the pressure setting of relief valve (1), the force of spring (4) is overcome and valve (2) moves to the right. This allows pressurized oil to flow past valve (2), through drain opening (7) and to the hydraulic tank.
