Illustration 1 g00303463Before you load the machine, chock the trailer wheels or the rail car wheels, as shown. Before loading or shipping the machine, ensure that all covers are properly latched and that the operator seat is pinned in the forward facing direction. The machine can be transported as a 3 m (9.8 ft) load, if the screed extensions are retracted within the screed. Raise the hopper wings and install the hopper travel lock pins.Raise the adjustable augers to the most upright position.
In order to avoid possible machine damage, back the machine onto the trailer.Ship the machine with the screed on blocks, and the tow arm cylinders fully retracted.Extendable screed must be parallel and inline before retracting.
Engage the parking brake.Stop the engine.Turn the start switch to the OFF position. Remove the start switch key.Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the disconnect switch key.Lock the access covers. Attach any vandalism protection.Chock the tracks. Secure the machine with tie-downs. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lifting and Tying Down the Machine" for instructions on tying down the machine.
Rotation of the turbocharger without engine operation can result in damage to the turbocharger.Cover the exhaust opening or secure the rain cap in order to prevent the turbocharger from windmilling in transit.
After the machine is on the trailer, lower the screed onto blocks that support the screed fully across the width of the screed. Install the vandalism cover on both operator panels. To protect the cooling systems, mix the solution of antifreeze and water. The solution should provide protection to the lowest expected outside temperature. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.Perform a walk-around inspection and measure the fluid levels in the various compartments.Travel at a moderate speed. Observe all speed limitations when you are roading the machine.Exhaust Stack
In order to reduce the height of the machine for transport, lower the exhaust stack. Use the following procedure to lower the exhaust stack.
Illustration 2 g01364401
Remove retaining pins (1) and (2) from the exhaust stack.
Illustration 3 g01364423
Pull down on the handle (3) in order to lower the exhaust stack. Note: If the exhaust stack is too loose, tighten bolt (4).
Illustration 4 g01364426
Install pin (1) in order to keep the exhaust stack in the STORAGE position.
Illustration 5 g01364428
Lower plate (5) and install pin (2) in order to keep water and debris from entering the exhaust system. Note: Be sure to raise plate (5) before returning the exhaust stack to the upright position.
Reverse steps 1 through 4 in order to return the exhaust stack to the upright position. Canopy
Always store the canopy in the down position when the machine is transported. Use the following steps in order to lower the canopy:
Rotate the operating stations inward to the center of the paver.
Tilt the operator consoles downward to the minimum position.
Fold down the exhaust stack. Skip this step if the machine is equipped with an automatic folding exhaust stack that is attached to the canopy.
