Test Step 1. CHECK THE MECHANICAL CONNECTIONS
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Visually inspect the mechanical connections for the "right steering" cylinder. Verify that all mechanical connections and adjustments for the steering cylinder are in good condition and verify that no mechanical connections are loose. Expected Result:All mechanical connections for the steering cylinder are in good condition and no mechanical connections are loose. Results:
OK - All mechanical connections for the steering cylinder are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - All mechanical connections for the steering cylinder are not correct.Repair: Perform the maintenance that is required in order to correct the problem with the mechanical connections for the steering cylinder. After the problem has been corrected, verify that this diagnostic code is still active before proceeding with this procedure.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR POWER AT THE SENSOR
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Do not disconnect the harness connector from the sensor.
At the back of the harness connector for the sensor, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the voltage input A (wire R800-OR(Orange)) and along the return contact B (wire P967-PU(Purple)).
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage from contact A to contact B. Expected Result:The voltage measurement is 8 0.3 DCV.Results:
OK - The voltage measurement is 8 0.3 DCV. The power supply circuit is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The voltage measurement is not 8 0.3 DCV. The power supply circuit is not correct.Repair: There is a problem with the power supply circuit for the sensor. Refer to the complete Electrical System Schematic of the machine . Check all of the connections that are in the power supply circuit and the return circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE SENSORTurn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the "right steering cylinder" position sensor and disconnect the machine harness connector from the "left steering cylinder" position sensor. Mark the harness connector for the "right steering sensor".
Connect the marked connector for the "right steering" sensor to the connector for the "left steering" sensor . Connect the connector that is not marked for the "left steering" sensor to the connector for the "right steering" sensor.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Observe the status of the active diagnostic code for the "right steering" sensor. Expected Result:When the harness connectors are switched, the CID 2201 FMI 02 diagnostic code for the "right steering" sensor is not active. A CID 2200 FMI 02 diagnostic code for the "left steering" sensor is now active. Results:
YES - The CID 2201 FMI 02 diagnostic code is no longer active. A CID 2200 FMI 02 diagnostic
