1. Open the right side front access door. 2. Remove the filter housing drain plug. Allow the oil to drain. 3. Turn the bolt head at the top of the filter cover counterclockwise to loosen it. Remove the cover. 4. Remove the used element and discard it.5. Clean the housing. Clean and install the drain plug.6. Install a new filter element. Fill the housing with clean hydraulic oil.7. Wash the cover in clean, nonflammable solvent. Allow it to dry. 8. Replace the cover seal if it is damaged. Install the cover and tighten the bolt to 81 7 N m (60 5 lb ft).Pump Case Drain Filter
1. Remove the housing drain plug and loosen the bleed screw. Allow the oil to drain. 2. Remove the housing cover. Remove the element and screen. Discard the used element.3. Clean inside the housing.4. Wash the cover and screen in clean nonflammable solvent.5. Install the screen and a new element in the housing. Install the cover. Clean and install the drain plug. Tighten the bleed screw.6. Start and operate the engine for a few minutes. Cycle the hydraulic controls. Check for leaks.7. With the machine on level ground, position the equipment as follows, and stop the engine. Front Shovel - The stick and bucket cylinders must be fully extended and equipment lowered. Backhoe - The stick and bucket cylinders must be fully extended and equipment lowered. 8. Maintain the hydraulic oil level to the FULL mark on the sight gauge. Install the tank fill cap. Change Filter
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Disconnect the battery (turn disconnect switch OFF) when changing fuel filters.
Do not fill fuel filters with fuel before installing them. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system parts.
Primary Filter
1. Open the right rear access door. 2. Loosen the retaining nut. Remove the case and element. Wash the parts in clean nonflammable solvent.3. Install the element and case.Secondary Filter
1. Access is from under the machine. 2. Remove the used fuel filter. Discard it. 3. Clean the filter base. Be sure all of the used filter seal is removed. 4. Coat the seal of a new filter with clean diesel fuel. Install the filter by hand. 5. When the seal contacts the filter base, tighten 3/4 turn more. Use the rotation index marks on the filter as a guide for proper tightening.
Do not overtighten the filter.
6. Prime the fuel system. Start and operate the engine at low idle.7. Inspect for leaks. Stop the engine. Close and secure the access doors.Priming the Fuel System
1. Loosen the nut at the outlet of the secondary filter base. 2. Unlock the priming pump plunger and operate the pump.3. When fuel flows from the bleed valve free of air bubbles, close the bleed valve and lock the pump. 4. If it is necessary to remove air from the
