Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.

Disconnect gland nut (8) for the capillary tube from adapter (6). Remove the capillary tube from the adapter.
Remove cable strap (3) from the bracket for the air cleaner housing and remove the capillary tube.
Remove the capillary tube from clip (9) on the exhaust manifold.
Loosen screw (2) from harness assembly (4). Remove the harness assembly from high coolant temperature switch (5).
Remove allen head bolts (1) from high coolant temperature switch (5). Remove the high coolant temperature switch from the bracket.
If necessary, remove adapter (6) from the cylinder head. Follow Step 7.a through Step 7.c in order to remove the pocket from the cylinder head.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.
Remove adapter (6) from the cylinder head.
Remove sealing washer (7). Installation Procedure

Ensure that the face of the adapter and the cylinder head are clean and free from damage. Ensure that the high coolant temperature switch is clean and free from damage.
If necessary, install adapter (6) to the cylinder head. Follow Step 2.a through Step 2.c in order to install the adapter to the cylinder head.
Install a new sealing washer (7) to adapter (6). Apply a bead of Tooling (A) to the threads of the adapter.
Install adapter (6) to the cylinder head. Tighten the adapter to a torque of 25 N m (18 lb ft).
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct procedure.
Position high coolant temperature switch (5) onto the bracket. Install allen head bolts (1) to high coolant temperature switch (5). Tighten the allen head bolts to a torque of 5 N m (44 lb in).
Connect the harness assembly (4) to high coolant temperature switch (5). Tighten screw (2) securely.
Install the capillary tube to adapter (6) and tighten gland nut (8) securely.
Secure the capillary tube to the bracket for the air cleaner housing with cable strap (3).
Secure the capillary tube to clip (9) on the exhaust manifold.
