(19) Clutch packInput gear (6) drives transfer gear (15) on the differential group. Gear (15) turns planetary (13).The outer portion of planet gears (14) drive ring gear (16) for the rear axles.The inner portion of planet gears (14) drive gear (12A) that is part of gear (12). Gear (12) is connected to gear (10) that drives the front differential.Under normal conditions, lockup clutch (7) is not engaged. 60% of the torque from the transmission is transmitted to the center and rear differentials. 40% of the torque is transmitted to the front differential.When conditions exist, the ECM will send a command to solenoid (1) and engage the clutch in differential group (4). Engaging the rear differential clutch will lock gear (11) to gear (12). Gear (11) is splined to shaft (17). Under this condition, the front and the rear shafts receive equal torque.
