Use the following procedure in order to change the pressure equalization time of the ride control system.The pressure equalization time for the ride control is the transition between OFF and ON. This transition is the time that is required to equalize the pressure between the ride control accumulator and the lift cylinders.Note: When ride control is active and there is unequal pressure between the accumulator and the lift cylinders, the lift arms will move upward or downward.The factory setting of pressure equalization time for the 950H and 962H Wheel Loader is 3 seconds.The ride control system changes from OFF to ON more quickly when a lower value is entered. Likewise, the transition of the ride control system from OFF to ON is slower when a higher value is entered. For example, setting the time to a greater value will result in more time in order to balance the accumulator with the lift cylinders. Now, the ride control system requires more time to go from OFF to ON after the system is activated. Location of service connectorConnect the 317-7484 Communication Adapter Gp to an available COM port on your PC and to the service connector on the machine.
Start the engine.
Start the CAT Electronic Technician program.

Select "Transmission". Click the "OK" button.

Select "Service". Select "Configuration" from the "Service" menu.

If an adjustment to the pressure equalization time for the ride control is required, select "Ride Control Pressure Equalization Time". Select the "Change" button on the lower left side of the screen.

Enter the new value in seconds and click the "OK" button.
Exit Caterpillar Electronic Technician. Normally, about 3 seconds are needed for accumulator pressure to drop to lift cylinder head end pressure. If the lift cylinder pressure oscillates during this time, the ride control may engage with a difference in pressure. The equalization time can be lowered to as little as 1 second. Shorter times result in faster activation and may result in smoother ride control engagement, though pressures may not be perfectly balanced.Activation speed is set at 9.6 km/h (6.0 mph) at the factory. The activation speed can be lowered, based on application requirements. Activation speed while reversing can be lowered to as little as 1.6 km/h (1.0 mph). The lower speed will ensure the smoothest activation and increase ride quality for the operator. Forward activation speed should be set higher than the speed that is used to enter the pile.
