Place the fixed axle beneath the machine.
Use Tooling (A), Tooling (B), a hoist, and suitable lifting chains to raise the fixed axle into position on the machine.

Typical Example
Install twelve bolts (5), the washers, and the nuts that hold the fixed axle to the machine. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1125 1500 N m (825 75 lb ft).

Connect hydraulic hose assemblies (4) to the mounting plate.

Connect hose assembly (3) to junction block (4) .

Place the front drive shaft in position. Install the spider and bearings (2). Install eight bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 160 15 N m (120 11 lb ft).
Fill the front differential and the final drives with oil. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6978 for the proper procedure.
Purge air from the front service brakes. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing, & Adjusting Manual, SENR5727 for the proper procedure.
Check the oil level of the steering and brake hydraulic tank. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6978 for the proper procedure.End By: Install the front tire and rim assemblies. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install".
