Rework Procedure
An alternator air ducting kit is availablefor all 836G compactors. Alternator Installation
Turn disconnect switch off.
Remove existing alternator from engine.
Remove pulley from existing alternator and installon new alternator.
Tighten pulley nut to a torque of 102 +/- 7 N m.
Install 10R1448 Alternator on engine.
Install 1054728 Ground Wire. Refer to the followinginstallation for details.
For Mounting the Ducting Kit
Leaving the hood assembly on the machine, drilla 53-mm (2.06-inch) diameter hole into the 1468903 Top Hood Panel.
Install 2298347 Bulk Seal on each end of the 2264909Screen. Assemble the 1645798 Rain Cap, Screen Assembly, and 2264911 Tubetogether so the assembly sets flush on top of the hood. The tube shouldextend above the hood about 93 to 95 mm. Slide the assembled tube throughthe hole and tack weld the tube from underneath the hood to hold tube inplace. Disassemble the screen, and the rain cap from the tube and welda 2-mm weld all the way round.
3. To locate the three holes that need to bedrilled into the air cleaner bracket, place the 2264907 Air Duct MountingBracket over the 1371290 Air Cleaner Bracket and use the air duct mountingbracket as a template. Or, use the illustration below that has the dimensions,to layout the hole pattern.
After installing the alternator, air duct mountingbracket, and tube on the hood, assemble the ducting material accordingto the drawing below.
The hole in the screen will allow access to theclamp for securing the rain cap in place.
