Donot perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the terminationdate without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst. Remove failed turbocharger.
Read and follow Special Instruction SEHS9597,which is included with each turbocharger. The instruction covers the veryimportant and necessary steps for proper inspection, cleaning, and installationof the new turbocharger. It is critical that the air inlet hose from theair cleaner and the air inlet to the Aftercooler are inspected and cleanedthoroughly to ensure there is no debris in the system, and verify thatthe air inlet hose is in good condition.
Install replacement remanufactured turbocharger,using new gasket. Lubricate turbocharger oil inlet with clean engine oilbefore installation.
Install turbo oil supply and drain lines, usingnew gaskets.
