When the Cat Telematics system does not flash software remotely, certain steps can be taken. Use the following steps in order to help determine the fault.
Verify that the subscription is one that allows for a remote flash – Check OMM
The subscription allows for remote flashing. Proceed to Step 2.
The subscription does not allow for remote flashing. Upgrade the subscription or perform a local flash.
Check the "Remote Flash Status" tab.
If the status has said "Pending" for longer than an hour and you know that the asset has power, restart the battery power to machine.
If the status shows "Complete" continue to Step 3.
Has the system been rebooted since the flash?
The system has been rebooted. Proceed to Step 4.
The system has not been rebooted. Reboot system and proceed to Step 4.
Look in the "Remote Flash Error" tab.
Errors present.
Error 1: The flash was sent three times and failed each time. Cell coverage is intermittent the Cat Telematics unit is unable to flash remotely at this time.
Error 2: The flash attempt was unsuccessful for three times. Contact the DSN.
Error 3: The Cat Telematics unit tried to unzip the file and failed. Contact the DSN.
No errors present. Proceed to Step 5.
Perform the "Remote Shoulder Tap" for the cellular and satellite radios.
Only the satellite radio checks in. The Cat Telematics unit is out of cell coverage and is unable to remote flash over the cellular radio.
Cell radio checks in. Contact the DSN.
Neither radio checks in. Refer to TSG Data is not Available.
