ACTION REQUIRED
If documented oil consumption has occurred: (After Failure Only)
1. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Remove".
2. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
3. Remove the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Remove".
4. Remove the piston cooling jets. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Cooling Jets - Remove and Install".
5. Remove the pistons and connecting rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Remove".
6. Remove and replace all six (6) cylinder packs. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pistons and Connecting Rods - Install".
7. Check the cylinder liner projection. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Cylinder Liner Projection - Inspect".
8. Install the cylinder head, engine oil pump and oil pan with new gaskets as required.
Refer to Service Magazine, "A New Piston Is Used in Certain Machines Equipped with C18 Engines".
Note: The new pistons must be changed as an entire set. The weights between the new and existing pistons do not match. This change is effective for machines built with engine serial numbers TXH1372-UP and RHX10891-UP.
