Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Cat Dealer Service Tool Catalog" or refer to Special Publication, PECJ0003, "Cat Shop Supplies and Tools Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The boost pressure forces the plunger to move down on the valve seat. The plunger must close against the seat at a pressure of 27.5 kPa (4 psi). When the engine is stopped, the absence of boost pressure allows the plunger to rise to the open position. The absence of pressure allows the condensation from the aftercooler to drain out.Water cooled

Remove valve assembly (2) from aftercooler (1), or the tube assembly from the aftercooler.
Remove circlip (3) and remove plunger (4) and spring (5) from valve assembly. Remove O ring seal (6).
Ensure that all components are clean and free from dirt.
Install new O ring seal (6) and spring (5).
Install plunger (5) and install circlip (3). Check the operation of the plunger.
Install valve assembly (2) into aftercooler (1), or into the tube assembly from the aftercooler. Refer to the Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications".
