Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove tube assembly (1) .
Remove bolt (3) and the clip.
Disconnect harness assembly (4) .
Remove bolts (5) .
Remove the water temperature regulator housing (2) .

Remove bolts (6) and remove housing (7) .
Remove tube (9) and remove O-ring seals (8) .

Remove and discard seal (11). Remove water temperature regulators (10) .

Remove lip seals (12). Note the orientation of the lip seals for installation purposes.Installation Procedure
Install water temperature regulator housing (2) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the seal run surface of lip seals (12). Use Tooling (B) to install lip seals (12) .
Apply Tooling (A) O-ring seals (8) and tube assemblies (1) .
Tighten water temperature sensor (2) to a torque of 20 3 N m (177 27 lb in).
