Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install the backup rings and the O-ring seals on each relief valve (16). Install the backup rings in the original location.
Install relief valves (16) in the original positions in the valve body.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Install O-ring seal (15) on plug (14). Install plug (14) in the valve body.
Install valve (13), sleeve (11), and spring (12) in the valve body. Install O-ring seal (10) on plug (9). Install plug (9) in the valve body.Note: Make sure that the outer surfaces and the spool guides in each end of the spool assembly (8) are thoroughly clean prior to installation in the valve body.

Apply clean hydraulic oil on spool assembly (8). Install spool assembly (8) and O-ring seals (7) in the valve body.
Make sure that the plunger (3) is thoroughly clean prior to installation in cover (2). Put a thin coat of clean hydraulic oil on the plunger (3). Install plunger (3) in cover (2). Install spring seat (6) and spring (4) in the valve body.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Position cover (2) over spring (4) (not shown), and install Tooling (A). Make sure that cover (2) is square with the valve body by measuring Dimension (X) on both sides of cover (2). Slowly compress the assembly with Tooling (A) until the cover (2) makes contact with the valve body. Dimension (X) should remain equal on both sides of cover (2) during the procedure. Install two bolts (1) in order to hold cover (2) in place. Remove Tooling (A) from the valve. Install remaining bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).
Repeat Steps 6 and 7 in order to install the cover on the opposite side of the travel brake valve.End By: Install
