The pump and the grease tank are located under the steps. The interval for lubrication can be set from 1 minute to 16 minutes. The continual operating time of the pump can be set between 0.5 hours to 8 hours.Note: Calibrate the autolube timer. Calibration should be set at 4 minutes. The autolube system should repeat every 0.5 hours. The following points on the machine are lubricated by the automatic lubrication system:
Swing bearing
Lower boom bearing
Boom cylinder head end
Boom cylinder rod end
Stick cylinder head end
Stick cylinder rod end
Stick to boom linkage
Work tool cylinder
Work tool cylinder
Stick noseIt is possible to start the lubrication system between each interval by activating the switch in the cab or the push button on the right side of the pump body.Start the intermediate lubrication cycle by pressing on the top of the rocker switch inside the cab. The operation of the intermediate lubrication cycle is indicated by the flashing lamp inside the rocker switch. Start the intermediate lubrication cycle in the following situations:
The Machine has been washed.
Providing extra grease to the bearings under tough conditions
Starting work after a long period of no operation of the machineIt is not necessary to start the intermediate lubrication cycle under normal working conditions.Note: Starting the intermediate lubrication cycle too often will increase the consumption of grease. Starting the intermediate lubrication cycle too often may also cause an excess of lubrication on the machine.Adding Grease to the Grease Tank
Caterpillar recommends the use of NLGI NO. 2 Grease that meets the requirements for both cold weather conditions and hot weather conditions.
NLGI NO. 0 or NO.1 grease with low viscosity should be used only in cold weather conditions. If used in conditions other than cold weather, the grease consumption will increase.Any foreign materials in the grease tank could restrict the lubrication lines or damage the valves. Before adding grease to the tank, be sure to wipe off the tank fitting and the grease gun nozzle. When adding grease to the tank, never add the grease beyond the level approximately 2 cm (0.8 inch) below the top surface of the grease tank. Adding grease beyond that level would allow the top cover to come off during pump activation. For more information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)".
The grease level should be checked before starting to work. If necessary, add grease to the grease tank.Procedure for Setting Timer

Remove the cover with a screwdriver in order to gain access to the timer switches. The automatic lubrication cycle time should be calibrated at 4 minutes per every 0.5 hours. These settings should be adjusted in order to suit the current operating conditions. Set the lubrication cycle by turning the left switch clockwise to the desired time. Set the operating time by turning the right switch clockwise to the desired time. An optimum amount of grease in the linkages provides a good seal against mud, sand, and water.Operation of the Automatic Lubrication System
After the ignition has been turned to the ON position, the amber indicator
