Introduction
This procedure should be performed if there is harshness experienced when pulling or releasing the steering control levers with a smooth motion. The normal response of the machine to letting go of a steering control lever while turning may be considered harsh by some operators. This is not an indication of failure. Step 1. Check application.a. Check that the Application is the correct one for the machine.Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "Submode 01 - Set Application" for additional information. Expected Result: The Application is correct. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 2.* NOT OK - Change the application to the proper setting. Check operation of machine for the original complaint. If conditions are not resolved, proceed to Step 2.Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "Submode 01 - Set Application" for additional information. Step 2. Check system pressure.a. With the engine at low idle and the parking brake disengaged, check system pressure at transmission main relief pressure tap (E).
Figure 1: Transmission (15)
(E) Transmission main relief. (L) Transmission lubrication. (M) Oil temperature. Expected Result: System pressure is 2925 100 kPa (425 15 psi). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 4.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 3. Step 3. Perform Low Power Train Oil System Pressure. Results:* REPAIRED, OK - STOP.* OK - Proceed to Step 4. Step 4. Calibrate the steering and braking valves.a. Calibrate the steering and braking valves following the procedure in SENR8367 "Power Train Electronic Control System".b. Check the operation of the machine for the original complaint.Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "System Calibrations" for additional information. Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - STOP.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 5. Step 5. Check wiring connections.a. Check adjacent clutch and brake solenoid wiring harness connections to see if they are reversed. This is to ensure that the harness for the brake solenoid is not connected to the steering clutch solenoid and vice versa.b. Repair as required.
