POWER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 6S4858 - Caterpillar

1. Install two new O-ring seals on the oil pressure switch. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seals and install oil pressure switch (2) in the oil filter base.2. Install plunger (4), spring (3) and cover (5).3. Install a new gasket on the oil filter base. Install cover (1).Remove Engine Oil Cooler
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.2. Drain the oil from the engine oil cooler. 3. Remove bolts and remove clip (2).4. Remove two bolts (1). Remove bonnet (3). 5. Remove bolts and remove tube assembly (4) from the oil filter base. Remove O-ring seal from the tube assembly.6. Remove two bolts (5) that hold the elbow to the engine block. 7. Remove bolts and remove clip (6).8. Remove two bolts (7). Remove oil cooler (8) and bypass valve as a unit. Remove O-ring seal from elbow. Remove O-ring seal from the oil cooler.Install Engine Oil Cooler
1. Install O-ring seal (2) on the elbow. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seal.2. Install engine oil cooler (1) and bypass valve. 3. Install O-ring seal (4) on the tube assembly.4. Install a new gasket on the oil filter base. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seal and install tube assembly (3). 5. Install O-ring seal (6) on the oil cooler.6. Install a new gasket on the water pump. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seal and install elbow (5).7. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.8. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.Disassemble Engine Oil Cooler
start by:a) remove engine oil cooler 1. Remove elbow (4) from oil cooler. Remove O-ring seal (5) from elbow.2. Remove tube (1). Remove O-ring seals from the tube.3. Remove bypass valve (2) from the oil cooler.
Cover (6) is under spring pressure.
4. Remove bolts evenly and remove cover (6). Remove spring and plunger from under cover.5. Remove adapter (3). Remove O-ring seal from adapter. 6. Clean the tube bundles in the engine oil cooler with a .125 in. (3.18 mm) diameter rod as shown.Assemble Engine Oil Cooler
1. Install O-ring seal on adapter (4). Put clean SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seal and install the adapter in the oil cooler (1).2. Install plunger (6), spring (7), gasket (8) and cover (9) in bypass valve (5).3. Install O-ring seal in bypass valve. Install bypass valve on the oil cooler.4. Install O-ring seals on tube (2). Put clean SAE 30 oil on the O-ring seals. Put tube (2) in position in the bypass valve.5. Install O-ring seals in the elbow.
