START BY:a) remove wheel spindles 1. Remove wedge assembly (1) from the air chamber assembly.
To prevent possible personal injury, carefully release the spring force from the wedge assembly.
2. Use tool (A) to make a compression of spring (2). Remove ring (3) and slowly and carefully release the spring force. 3. Remove retainer (5), spring (2), retainer (4) and roller assembly (6) from wedge (8).4. Remove rollers (7) from roller assembly (6). Steps 5 through 8 are for the tractor brakes only. 5. Remove valve assembly (9) from the air chamber assembly. 6. Remove bolts (10) that hold cap (11) to valve assembly (9). 7. Make a separation of cap (11) from valve assembly (9).8. Remove shuttle (14), guide (12) and seal (13) from cap (11). 9. Remove nuts (16), the bolts and band (18) that hold cover (15) to air chamber assembly (17). 10. Remove diaphragm (19) from the air chamber assembly. 11. Remove guide (20) from the plate assembly. 12. Remove plate assembly (21) from the air chamber assembly. 13. Remove protector (22) from the air chamber assembly. 14. Remove adjusting bolt assemblies (23) from the cylinder assembly. 15. Remove seals (24) from the cylinder assembly. 16. Bend locks back and remove plugs (25), springs (27) and guides (26) from the cylinder assembly. 17. Remove actuators (28) and plungers (29) from the cylinder assembly.Assemble Brake Assembly (Wheel)
1. Put 6V8972 Grease on plungers (2) to prevent galling. Install plungers (2) and actuators (1) in the cylinder assembly. Make sure the slots in the plungers are up as shown. 2. Install guides (5), springs (4) and plugs (3) into the cylinder assembly. Bend the locks against the plugs to hold them in place. 3. Install seal assemblies (6) on the cylinder assembly. 4. Install adjusting bolt assemblies (7) in the cylinder assembly. 5. Install protector (8) in the air chamber assembly. 6. Install plate assembly (9) in the air chamber assembly. 7. Install guide (10) on the plate assembly in the air chamber assembly. 8. Put diaphragm (12) into position on the air chamber assembly and install cover (11). 9. Install band (13), the bolts and nuts (14) that hold the cover to the air chamber assembly. Steps 10 through 13 are for the tractor brakes only. 10. Put seal (16) in position on cap (15).11. Install shuttle (18) and guide (17) in housing (19).12. Install cap (15) on valve assembly (19). 13. Install valve assembly (19) on the air chamber assembly. Make sure that after the valve assembly is installed the shuttle travel is horizontal. 14. Install rollers (24) on roller assembly (23).15. Install roller assembly (23), retainer (22), spring (21) and retainer (20) on wedge (25). 16. Use tool (A) to make a compression of spring (21) and install ring (26). 17. Put wedge assembly (27) in position in the air chamber assembly.END BY:a) install wheel assembly
