If the rod for the stick cylinder is replaced, a hole must be drilled through the nut and a set screw must be installed. The set screw secures the retaining ring. Without a set screw, the retaining ring may come loose. The loose retaining ring can damage the hydraulic system.Solution
If rod for the stick cylinder is replaced, make sure that the following steps of the assembly procedure are completed. Perform the steps that follow after the stop on the end of the rod assembly is installed. Make sure that you refer to the most recent revision of the Disassembly and Assembly Manual that is appropriate for your machine.

Lubricate the threads on the end of the rod assembly with 4C-5593 Anti-Seize Compound .
Install nut (1), and tighten to a torque of 80 4 N m (60 3 lb ft).
Drill a hole 4.5 mm (0.177 inch) through nut (1), into rod assembly (B) and to a depth of 2 mm (0.080 inch).
Put 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of setscrew (2) .
Install setscrew (2) in nut (1) .Continue with the final steps of the assembly procedure.
