A fuel injector is located in each cylinder head. The position of rack (4) controls the amount of fuel that is injected into the cylinder. Pull the rack out of the fuel injector for more fuel. Push the rack into the fuel injector for less fuel.The rack position is changed by bellcrank (3). The bellcrank is moved by control rod (8). The control rods have an adjustment screw on the top. The adjustment screw is used to synchronize the fuel injectors. The control rods are spring loaded. If one of the fuel injector racks is in a bind in the FUEL-ON position, it will still be possible for the governor to control the other racks. The other racks must be controlled by the governor so that the engine can be shutdown, as required. If the rack is in a bind in the FUEL-OFF position, the engine will not start. Each control rod is connected by a lever (6) to control shaft (7) .Note: Directions of rotation are viewed from the flywheel end of the engine.If the linkage becomes disconnected from the governor, the weight of the control linkage will move the fuel injector racks to the FUEL-OFF position. When the fuel injector racks move to the FUEL-OFF position, the engine will stop.
