This is a 4.0-hour job
If there has been a previous repair, part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
Submit one claim for all turbochargers reworked from dealer parts stock. 1.0 hour will be allowed for each turbocharger in dealer parts stock that is reworked.

Restock reworked turbochargers using new turbocharger part number.
****Affected Product****
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. Destroy the metal arrangement tag that has been removed as part of the Rework.
Rework Procedure
TURBOCHARGER REMOVAL
1) Remove the Turbocharger. Reference to Disassembly and Assembly - RENR5137 Articulated Trucks Engine Supplement - "Turbocharger Remove."
TURBOCHARGER PART NUMBER TAG REWORK
1) Once the turbocharger has been removed from the engine remove the part number tag from the Turbocharger with appropriate tooling. Make sure both rivet heads are sheered off during removal. See Image1.1.1 below for tag and rivet head location.
2) Stamp new 1W4795 turbocharger part number plate with the new turbocharger part number 316-8258.
3) Clean the part number tag area on turbocharger with emery cloth and 222-3117 Caterpillar Brake Cleaner.
4) Install new turbocharger part number tag using 266-3144 Caterpillar Epoxy Kit.
- One Epoxy Kit will service 10 engines.
Only charge 1 Kit per 10 engines to this repair, if possible.
5) Follow instructions on the Epoxy Kit and allow epoxy to harden before returning truck to service.

WASTEGATE CANISTER CALIBRATION
1) Refer to Special Instructions REHS3840 for instructions on replacement and calibration of the Turbocharger Wastegate Canister.
The turbocharger wastegate canister can be calibrated with the turbocharger on or off the engine.
TURBOCHARGER INSTALLATION
1) Reinstall the turbocharger using a new 1S-4295 gasket, 2N-2765 Bolts, and 2N-2766 Nuts.
2) Refer to Disassembly and Assembly - RENR5137 Articulated Trucks Engine Supplement - "Turbocharger Install."
ECM REFLASH
1) Reflash the ECM with 343-6117 flash file.
New passwords may be required.
2) Once the ECM has been flashed, Turn the ignition key off for 30 seconds before starting the engine.
ENGINE EMISSIONS LABEL
1) Begin at the SIS web homepage. The address is https://sis.cat.com.
2) From the SIS web homepage, select the Engine Technical Marketing Information-TMI link.
3) Once in TMI, input the serial number of the engine into the reference number box and select "serial number" in the drop down menu.
4) Press the Retrieve Data button.
5) Select the "Emissions Data" link.
6) Scroll to the bottom and click the link titled, "Need emissions replacement label-Click Here!". This will direct the user to the Large Power Systems Division Homepage.
7) Click on the emissions/certification replacement link.

8) Complete dealer name and address information.

9) Complete the remaining fields highlighted with a red asterisk.
10) Select Engine Information label as the label type. Enter the number of this Priority Program in the field titled "Reason for the replacement label request-". It is also very important to have the engine serial number field completed with the correct information.
