A FT-3053 Spanner Wrench As 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic fluid prior to installation. Install seal (15) into piston (14).
Ensure that roll pin (12) is inserted into hydraulic piston (16). Roll pin (12) must protrude 9.375 0.375 mm (0.3700 0.0148 inch) from the surface of hydraulic piston (16).
Slide piston (14) into hydraulic piston (16).
Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic fluid prior to installation. Install wiper (7), backup ring (8), and seal (10) in the small grooves in torque plate (6).
Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic fluid prior to installation. Install seal (11) and backup ring (13) in the larger grooves in torque plate (6).
Install piston assembly into torque plate (6). Piston assembly consists of roll pin (12), piston (14), seal (15), and hydraulic piston (16). Note: Ensure that roll pin (12) in hydraulic piston (16) aligns with the hole in torque plate (6).
Place the male end of the mandrel into inside diameter of piston (16). Stack disc springs (19) around the mandrel. Springs (19) should be placed into spring housing (21), alternate from concave side to the convex side. Springs (19) on the outside ends of the stack should be oriented with the concave side facing outward. Install shim (20) in the bottom of spring housing (21). Apply a thin coat of Loctite 570 to the threads of spring housing (21). Install spring housing (21) into torque plate (6) until spring housing (21) comes into contact with disc springs (19).
Place the female end of mandrel over male end of mandrel. By using a press and the mandrel, compress disc springs (19) in order to eliminate the force on the spring housing (21). Use a spanner wrench to tighten the spring housing (21 ) until the face bottoms out in torque plate (6). Torque spring housing (21 ) to 62 6 N m (550 50 lb in).
Thread set screw (17) and coupling nut (18) into the hydraulic piston (16) until the piston (14) is flush with the end of the hydraulic piston.
Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic fluid prior to installation. Install O-ring seals (5) in back counterbores of the torque plate (6).
Install purging screw (3) into torque plate (6). Torque the purging screw (3) to 25 3 N m (225 25 lb in). Install dust cap (2) onto purging screw (3).
Install brake pads (1).
Install capscrew (9) and nut (4).
After the brake is mounted and adjusted, screw plug (22) onto spring housing (21). Torque screw plug (22) to 65 3 N m (48 2 lb
