Typical Example
Inspect the cutting edges (1) for wear. There is one cutting edge on each shell (2). If the cutting edge is worn or if the sides of the shells come into contact, the cutting edge must be changed. Note: The cutting edge (1) is worn when the dimension of the cutting edge has decreased to the same level as the edge (4).
Inspect the opposite side of the cutting edge. Each cutting edge has two edges that can be used. If the opposite side of the cutting edge is not worn, turn the opposite side of the cutting edge outward and install the cutting edge. Note: If both of the cutting edges are worn, replace the cutting edges.Note: Inspect the wear plate (3) for wear. Refer to , "Cutting Edges (Wear Plate) - Inspect/Replace" for more information.

In order to use the opposite side of the cutting edge, remove nuts (5), bolts (6), wear plate (3), and cutting edge (1) from shell (2).
Thoroughly clean all contact surfaces before installing the cutting edge. Remove any rust, paint, nicks, and burrs from the surfaces.
Rotate the cutting edge (1) in order to have the new edge outward. Install wear plate (3) and install the cutting edge (1) with the new edge outward.
Install new bolts (6) and new nuts (5). Tighten the nuts to the proper torque. Refer to table 1 for torque specifications.
