Location of the Position Sensor that control the Articulation Angle of the machine (View from the left side of the machine at the articulation hitch)
(1) Articulation angle sensor
(2) Mechanical linkage Two articulation angle sensors are required for the correct operation of the articulation of the machine. Each sensor will provide a PWM signal to the ECM. When the Implement ECM has detected that the signal from the "articulation angle sensor 1" is out of calibration, the FMI 13 diagnostic code is recorded. The Implement ECM and the Transmission/Chassis ECM can activate this diagnostic code. The sensor is a PWM sensor that operates at a frequency of approximately 500 Hz. When the machine is in the neutral position, the input of the duty cycle from the sensor to the ECM is approximately 51% for the model 16M, approximately 54% for the model 14M and approximately 55% for all other models. When the machine is articulated to the full left position, the duty cycle will be approximately 29% for the model 14M and approximately 33% for all other models. When the machine is articulated to the full right position, the duty cycle will be approximately 75% for the model 16M, approximately 79% for the model 14M and approximately 74% for all other models.Note: The power supply of the Implement ECM provides power to the sensor. The sensor does not connect directly to the frame ground. The sensor connects to the return circuit of the ECM. The ECM internally connects the return wire to frame ground. In order to correct this diagnostic code, calibrate the sensor.Note: Verify that no other CID 0615 diagnostic codes are active. Any other active CID 0615 diagnostic codes must be investigated and the code must be cleared before performing this procedure. Prior to attempting the calibration of the articulation angle sensors a check of the mechanical linkage is highly recommended. Test Step 1. CHECK THE MECHANICAL LINKAGE
Personal injury or death can result from machine articulation or movement.Machine frames can move and a person can be crushed.Connect the steering frame lock link between the front and rear frames before working on machine.Do not disconnect the lock link until the machine is made operational and the commissioning procedure is completed.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove any guards or shielding for the articulation sensors.
Check the mounting bolts for the articulation sensors. Ensure that the sensors are securely mounted.
Visually inspect the mechanical linkage for the articulation sensors. Verify that all mechanical components are tight and that all mechanical components are in good condition. Verify that the adjustment of the linkage is correct. Expected Result:All mechanical linkage and adjustable components for the articulation sensors are in good condition and no mechanical connections are loose. Results:
OK - All mechanical linkage and adjustment for the articulation sensors is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - All mechanical linkage and adjustment for the articulation sensors is not correct. Repair: Perform the maintenance that is required in order
