Note: Use a suitable press and a spacer in order to apply a load (D) of 4000 kg (8800 lb) on the bearing (E). Rotate the housing (F) in order to seat the bearing. Reduce the load on the bearing to 2600 100 kg (5700 200 lb). Maintain the load on the bearing. Measure the distance from the top of the bearing to the face of the housing. Call the measurement dimension (A). Measure the distance from the machined face of the carrier (G) to the first machined step. The step is located on the outside diameter of the carrier. Call the measurement dimension (B). The shim thickness is equal to dimension (A) minus dimension (B). The tolerance for the calculated dimension is 0.05 mm (0.002 inch).
