Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine side guard.
Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine.To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps.Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.

Turn battery disconnect switch (1) to the OFF position.

Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belts - Inspect / Adjust / Replace" for the correct removal and installation procedure for belt (2) .
Disconnect harness assembly (3) .
Disconnect clip (5) and cable assembly (6) .
Disconnect ground strap (6) .

Remove bolt (7), bolt (10), guard (8), and alternator (9) .Installation Procedure
Install alternator (9) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten ground strap (6) to a torque of 4 1 N m (35 9 lb in).
Tighten cable assembly (4) to a torque of 18 2 N m (160 18 lb in).
