Remove the pump drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump Drive - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Drain the oil from pump drive (1). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Pump Drive Oil - Change". The pump drive contains approximately 90 L (24 US gal) of oil.
Disconnect hose (2) from pump drive (1) .
Remove bolt (3) and clip (4) .

Use a suitable lifting device and a hoist in order to position pump drive (1). Pump drive (1) weighs approximately 870 kg (1918 lb). Make sure that flanges (5) are on top.
Remove 32 bolts (6) that secure four flanges (5) to pump drive (1). Remove the four flanges (5). Remove the O-ring (not shown) from each flange (5) .Note: Mark the location of the dowel in each flange (5) for assembly purposes.

Lift four gear assemblies (7) from pump drive (1) .

Use Tooling (A) to remove the bearing from each side of each gear assembly (7) .

Use a suitable lifting device and a hoist to position pump drive (1). Pump drive (1) weighs approximately 870 kg (1918 lb). Make sure that cover (8) is on top.
Remove bolts (9) from cover (8) .

Attach Tooling (B) to gear and shaft assembly (10). Use a hoist to lift gear and shaft assembly (10) from pump drive (1). Gear and shaft assembly (10) weighs approximately 60 kg (132 lb).

Remove lip seals (12) .
Remove retaining ring (11) .Note: Mark the location of the dowel in cover (8) for assembly purposes.
Slide shaft assembly (10) through cover (8) .
Remove O-ring (14) from cover (8) .
Remove retaining ring (15) from cover (8) .
Use a suitable press in order to remove bearing (13) from cover (8) .

Use Tooling (A) to remove bearing (16) from shaft assembly (10) .
