PROBLEM
The existing outer valve spring can fail on certain C-12 Industrial Engines. If the existing outer valve spring fails it can cause the valve to contact the piston.

ACTION REQUIRED
It is recommended to work each cylinder one at a time to prevent the valve from dropping into the cylinder. Using the 4C-6726 Service Tool will allow the rework to be done without removing the cylinder head from the engine.
1. Remove the valve covers.
2. Remove the rocker shaft hold down bolt.
3. Remove the entire rocker shaft, injector rocker arm, intake rocker arm, exhaust rocker arm, and valve bridges.
4. Remove the injector hold down bolt and remove the injector.
5. Roll the cylinder being reworked to Top Dead Center (TDC) to prevent the valves from dropping into the cylinder.
6. Use the 4C-6726 Service Tool to compress the valve springs.
- CAUTION: Do not let the valve drop into the cylinder.
7. Remove the valve keepers and the rotocoils after the springs are compressed.
8. Slowly release the service tool and remove the outer valve spring.
9. Replace all four outer valve springs with new 214-0586 Springs and reassemble.
10. Repeat the steps 2 - 9 on the remaining 5 cylinders. Be sure to roll each cylinder up to TDC prior to compressing the springs and removing the keepers.
11. Reset the valve lash and injector height after all six cylinders are reworked.
