Left side view (A) Front view (B) Open the access door on the left fender.Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark on the dipstick (1) . Overfilling can cause hot oil to overflow the reservoir (2) .To fill the reservoir, add oil through the dipstick opening.Note: The initial fill of pivot shaft may trap air in the tube. The level of the oil may fall as air escapes. The reservoir must be filled several times in order to remain consistently full.

(3) Filler plug for pivot shaft compartment (4) Drain plug for pivot shaft compartmentCheck for seal leakage at the pivot shaft retainer. The pivot shaft retainer is located on the main frame case. If there is any sign of seal leakage, refer to the appropriate Service Manual or consult your Caterpillar dealer for repairs.Note: If disassembly is required, fill at filler plug (3) , and at the oil reservoir after completion of repair.
