Start By:a. remove steering cylindersb. remove lift cylinder 1. Put the steering cylinder on tooling (A). The weight of the steering cylinder is 32 kg (70 lb).2. Use tool (C), and unscrew crown (9) from cylinder assembly (1). Slide the cylinder assembly away from rod assembly (10).3. Remove wear ring (4) and seal assembly (5) from piston (8).4. Using tooling (B), remove bolt (3) that holds piston (8) to rod assembly (10). Remove washer and piston (8) from the rod assembly.5. Slide cylinder assembly (1) back onto rod assembly (10). Screw crown (9) into the cylinder assembly. Pull the cylinder assembly and head, as a unit, away from the rod assembly. Remove the head from the cylinder assembly.6. Remove O-ring seal (7) and back-up ring (15) from crown (9).7. Remove the retaining ring, lip-type seal (12), U-cup seal (13), seal assembly (14) and wear ring (6) from crown (9).8. Remove the lip-type seal from both sides of the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly at the mounting pin locations.9. Remove the bearing from the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly at the mounting pin locations. The following steps are for the assembly of the steering cylinders. Refer to Illustration C61918P1 for the assembly of the steering cylinder.10. Install the bearing in the cylinder assembly and the rod assembly at the mounting pin locations. Be sure the bearings are centered in the bore.11. Using tool (D), install the lip-type seals in the rod assembly and the cylinder assembly at the mounting pin locations. Install the seals with the lips facing out.12. Install wear ring (6), seal assembly (14) and U-cup seal (13) in crown (9) as shown. Using tool (D), install lip-type (12) in crown (9) with the lip facing away from the inside of the cylinder. Install the retaining ring to hold the lip-type seal in place. Install back-up ring (15) and O-ring seal (7) on crown (9) as shown.13. Put clean hydraulic oil on the lip of lip-type seal (12), U-cup seal (13), seal assembly (14) and wear ring (6).14. Screw crown (9) into cylinder assembly (1). Slide the head and cylinder assembly back onto the rod assembly (10). Unscrew the head from the cylinder assembly. Move the cylinder assembly away from the rod assembly and head.15. Install piston (8) on rod assembly (10). Install washer and lubricate the threads on the end of the rod assembly with 4C5593 Thread Lubricant. Install bolt (3). Using tooling (B), tighten bolt (3) to 1090 110 N m (800 80 lb ft).16. Install wear ring (4) and seal assembly (5) On piston (8). Lubricate the outside of the piston with 1P0808 General Purpose Lubricant.17. Lubricate the threads on crown (9) with 1P0808 General Purpose Lubricant. Slide the cylinder assembly onto rod assembly (10). Using tool (C), tighten crown (9) to a torque of 475 + 270 - 000 N m (350 + 200 - 000 lb ft).End By:a. install steering cylindersb. install lift cylinders
