PULLEY GP-FAN DRIVE 3805144 - Caterpillar

1. Remove the two cotter pins that hold nuts (2). Loosen nuts (2) until they are even with the bottom of the ball studs.2. Put tool (A) under the nuts, and apply pressure to them. Hit the ball stud sockets with a hammer, and the taper on the ball studs will loosen from the taper on the sockets.3. Remove nuts (2). Remove the tie rod from the machine. 4. Remove seal (4) from ball stud (3). Remove ring (6) and cover (7).5. Position the tie rod end in a press, and put a suitable piece of pipe over ball stud (3) and against race (5).6. Press the ball stud and race out of the tie rod end.7. Repeat steps 4through 6 for the remaining ball stud. The following steps are for installation of the tie rods.8. Press ball studs (3) and race (5) into the tie rod ends. Install cover (7) and ring (6) on each tie rod end. Install seal (4) over the ball studs with no lubricant.9. Put 4C5593 Anti-Seize Compound on the taper of the ball studs.10. Put tie rods (1) in position on the machine as shown, and install two nuts (2). Tighten nuts (2) to a torque of 1350 N m (1000 lb ft) plus the amount needed to install the cotter pins.11. Install the cotter pins that hold nuts (2).12. Check front wheel alignment. Refer to Specifications, Form SENR5642, for the correct procedure.
