Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
A recent quality issue has been identified for the machines that are listed. A potential casting defect in the implement control valve can result in external leakage. The porosity of the casting is causing the leakage. This problem occurs on machines that were built after 1July 2006. The lift, tilt and the auxiliary tubes connect to the top of the implement control valve. This leakage is occurring through the outer flange bolt holes. Temporary shortages of the implement control valves may be experienced until this issue is resolved. Solution
Caterpillar is currently working on a procedure that will address inspection of the machines that are listed. Caterpillar is working with the foundry in order to improve the casting process and eliminate the occurence of the casting porosity. Concerns about machine down time and potential lost sales should be directed to the appropriate Caterpillar service contact.
