PELJ1311 ?2011 Caterpillar PENDING DISCONTINUATION OF REMAN 3208 ENGINES
Announcement and Recommended Action
The dealer orders for the Reman 3208 engines have declined significantly from volumes seen in years past. At this time, Cat Reman is making plans to discontinue offering a complete replacement engine for the 3208. The Short Block or Long Block will become the primary service replacement options to support this engine family.
The chart in Appendix A displays those engine arrangements that are going to be cancelled and may not be available after 1 November 2011. From that time, orders will continue to fill only as long as inventory remains in our system. Normal core entitlements and core attrition timelines will remain in effect to enable administration of these parts.
We would encourage dealers to review their requirements and service strategies. If you anticipate requiring additional 3208 engines in the next 12-18 months, we would encourage you to get your orders placed early so they can be built and shipped prior to this line being shut down.
The chart in Appendix A also displays the Short Block and Long Block service options that will continue to be available to support this engine platform.
