Information:

Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Ensure that the CID 0722 FMI 04 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure, and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Note: Use a digital multimeter for the measurements in this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE FUSE
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
At the fuse panel, remove fuse 9 from the fuse holder.
Check the continuity of the fuse.Expected Result:The fuse is not open. Results:
OK - The fuse is not open. The fuse is not causing the problem. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The fuse is open. The fuse has failed.Repair: Replace the fuse. Verify that the new fuse has corrected the problem. Proceed to the next Test Step if the CID 0722 FMI 04 diagnostic code remains active after the fuse is replaced.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE SOLENOID CIRCUIT FOR AN OPENThe key start switch and the disconnect switch remain in the "OFF" position.
Disconnect the J2 machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the J2 machine harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance between contact J2-5 wire (G731-GY(Grey)) and contact J2-8
At the harness connector for the switch, use a wire removal tool to remove wire (G731-GY(Grey)) and the socket at contact "1".
Measure the resistance from the disconnected wire at the switch to contact J2-8 wire (H867-YL(Yellow)). Note the resistance measurement.Expected Result:The resistance measurements are approximately the same. Each measurement should indicate the resistance of the solenoid coil in the circuit. The resistance of the solenoid coil is approximately 42 ohms at 25° C (77° F). The resistance will increase as the temperatures increase. Results:
OK - The resistance measurements are approximately the same. Each measurement should indicate the resistance of the solenoid coil in the circuit. The resistance of the solenoid coil is approximately 42 ohms at 25° C (77° F). The resistance will increase as the temperatures increase. The solenoid and the circuit are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - One or both of the resistance measurements are not correct. The resistance measurement is much greater than the expected measurement. There is a poor connection in the circuit or the solenoid is open.Repair: Disconnect the solenoid and check the resistance of the coil.
Replace the solenoid if the resistance does not match the description at the beginning of this procedure.
Verify that the new solenoid has corrected the problem.
If the solenoid is correct, continue to check the circuit for an open circuit.
