Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.
Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, " Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Open the front access door on the left side in order to access bolts (1). Open access door (2) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to hood assembly (3). The weight of hood assembly (3) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb). Remove bolts (4). Remove hood assembly (3) .

Remove support (6). Disconnect hose (5). Remove tubes (7) .

Disconnect tube assembly (10) from cover (9). Reposition tube assembly (10). Loosen bracket (11). Remove cover (9) .

Move belt tensioner (21) in a counterclockwise direction in order to remove belt (20). Remove belt (20). Remove belt tensioner (21) .
