Illustration 1. Location of dehydrator-receiver in condenser group. Cab headliner and plate have been removed.If the dehydrator-receiver is not installed correctly, gas bubbles will be seen through the sight glass when the air conditioner is in operation, even if the system is fully charged.
If gas bubbles are seen, remove the cab headliner and the bolts and plate, shown on page 77 of the Service Manual, "Air Conditioning And Heating," Form No. SENR7454. Check to see if the dehydrator-receiver is installed correctly.
The hose assembly from the condenser coil outlet must be connected to the inlet on the dehydrator-receiver. The hose assembly from the expansion valve inlet must be connected to the outlet on the dehydrator-receiver. See Illustration 2.
The fitting on the dehydrator-receiver has the word "In" on the inlet. The dehydrator-receiver also has marks on it to show the direction of flow.
If the dehydrator-receiver is not installed correctly, drain the Freon from the system. See "Preparation Of System For Replacement Or Repair Of Components," in the Service Manual. Then remove the dehydrator-receiver and install it correctly, according to the procedure given on page 77 of the Service Manual. Then charge the system, according to the procedure given in the Service Manual.
