If there has been a previous repair, part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
1. Locate and remove any cracked welds. Refer to Image1.1.1.
1.1. Use air arc or oxyacetylene torch to remove the cracked welds.
1.2. Try to remove only the weld material and create a bevel groove.
1.3. Remove the weld 100mm (4 inch) beyond the visible crack.
1.4. A V notch is needed for proper welding.

Note: Repairing the weld between the top plate and side plates, there should be no gap. The plates should fit tightly together. If there is more than a 3mm (0.12 inch) gap, a backing plate or other method is required. Refer to Image1.2.1.
2. Prepare to weld.
2.1. Use a grinder or wire brush to remove slag left from the cutting operation.
2.2. Use dye penetrate to verify that the crack is gone. If the crack is still visible, cut back the weld further.
2.3. Follow REHS1841, Special Instruction, "General Welding Procedures", for general weld procedures and preparation.

3. Weld repair cracks box assembly.
3.1. Weld the rework area with a 16mm (0.63 inch) bevel groove weld in three passes as shown in Image1.3.1.

4. Weld Repair Cracks Bearing.
4.1. Weld bearing part and repair 20mm (0.80 inch) J-groove weld bead, using four passes as shown in Image1.4.1.

5. Weld Repair Arm assembly
5.1. Weld the reworking area with 10mm fillet weld as shown in Image1.5.1.

6. Grind the weld smooth (B) after welding. Grinding improves the fatigue life of the weld repair. Refer to Image1.6.1.

7. Repairing cracked welds (A) with the push arm on the machine is not recommended if there are cracks on the bottom of the push arm. Refer to Image1.7.1.
