Information:

Use this procedure in order to troubleshoot abnormal pressure in the low-pressure fuel system or if any of the following diagnostic trouble codes are active. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" for information about the codes.

Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check the Fuel Lines for Restrictions
A. If equipped, make sure that the fuel isolation valve is fully open.
B. Check all fuel lines between the fuel tank and the high-pressure fuel pump for restrictions or damage.
Restrictions
Result: The fuel isolation valve is not fully open.
Repair: Move the fuel isolation valve to the fully open position.
Use the electronic service tool to check that any event codes are no longer active.
Result: There is a restriction in a fuel line.
Repair: Clear the restriction or replace the fuel line.
Use the electronic service tool to check that any event codes are no longer active.
Result: The fuel isolation valve is fully open and there are no restrictions in the fuel lines.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check for Active Event Codes
A. Use the electronic service tool to check for event codes listed in Table 1.
Event codes
Result: Event code E1129-X is active.
Repair: Replace the primary fuel filter element. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for further information.
Result: Event code E390-X is active.
Replace the secondary fuel filter element. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for further information.
Result: Event code E198-1 is active.
Replace the high-pressure fuel pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Pump - Remove" and Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Pump - Install".
If the procedure did not correct the fault, contact the Dealer Solutions Network (DSN).
