At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot water or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns. Looks at the sight gauge to check the coolant level. The coolant level should be in the green range. If necessary, remove the fill cap only after the engine has been stopped and the cap is cool enough to remove with your bare hand. Remove the cooling system fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system condition contains alkali that can cause personal injury. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes and do not drink. Allow cooling system components to cool before draining.
1. Drain the coolant to a level below the water pump. 2. Loosen hose clamps (1), (2) and (4) at the water pump (3) and position hoses out of the way. 3. Remove eight bolts and washers (5) from water pump (3). Remove water pump (3) and gasket (6) from the engine. The following steps are necessary for installation of the water pump.4. Install gasket (6) into proper location. Install water pump (3) on engine block. Install eight bolts and washers (5) and tighten bolts.5. Install hoses and clamps (1), (2) and (4). Tighten clamps.6.
