Linkage Adjustment Procedure for Air-Fuel Ratio Control (Engines so Equipped)
The 7N8622 Air-Fuel Ratio Control is used with the scroll-type fuel system on some 3300 Series Direct Injection Engines. All 7N8622 Air-Fuel Ratio Controls are adjusted on the 6V2029 Fixture Group, and they are all adjusted to the same dimension for all engine applications. The air-fuel ratio control connects to internal linkage (D) of the governor. Linkage (D) of the governor is adjusted to a specific dimension, for specific engine applications. Use the procedure that follows to check and/or adjust linkage (D) to a specific dimension. See the FUEL SETTING INFORMATION for the correct dimension. 1. Remove cover (1). 2. Install 7N1048 Timing Pin (2) in the rack centering pin hole, and install 6V2014 Bracket Assembly (3). The inner arm on bracket assembly (3) must go into slot (E) in the fuel rack. After the installation of bracket (3), check to make sure that shaft (B) has axial movement. If shaft (B) does not have axial movement, make sure that the inner arm of the bracket is in slot (E) of the fuel rack, and that the bracket assembly is installed correctly. If necessary, remove bracket (3) and check inner arm (6). Inner arm (6) must be straight, and perpendicular to the base, as shown.3. Install 5P4814 Collet (4) on bracket (3). Put 9S229 Contact Point on the stem of 6V3075 Dial Indicator (5), then install the indicator into collet (4) on the bracket assembly.4. Move the governor control lever in the clockwise (CW) direction to the SHUT OFF position. Carefully push 6V4186 Timing Pin (2) all the way in, until it comes in contact with the fuel rack. DO NOT PUSH TOO HARD ON THE TIMING PIN BECAUSE IT CAN STOP MOVEMENT OF THE FUEL RACK.5. Move the governor control lever counterclockwise (CCW) to the HIGH IDLE position, and hold it in this position. (The fuel rack will move against the timing pin and stop. This is the fuel rack zero position.)6. Adjust the dial indicator so the revolution counters are on "0" (zero), then tighten collet (4) to hold the indicator in this position. Move the dial face of the indicator to get alignment of the pointer with zero. Remove the timing pin. With the governor control lever at the HIGH IDLE position, again check to make sure that shaft (B) has axial movement.7. Move the governor control lever to the FUEL OFF position and remove the air-fuel ratio control from the governor housing. 8. Use S1614 Bolts (7) to install 6V2017 Governor Adjusting Tool (8). Be sure edge (F) of adjusting tool (8) is behind governor linkage (D).9. Move governor control lever (9) to HIGH IDLE, and hold it in this position.
