Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance for the machine.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load. Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown).2. Lower the blade to the floor of the transport machine. Move the transmission control lever to NEUTRAL.3. Engage the parking brake.4. Stop the engine.5. Turn the disconnect switch key to OFF and remove the key.6. Secure the machine with tie-downs when transporting on a rail car or a tractor-trailer.7. Improper lifting or tiedowns will allow load to shift and cause injury or damage.
1. Weight and instructions given herein apply to units manufactured by Caterpillar Inc.Approx. Weight:D5C - 8477 kg (18,650 lb)2. Parking brake must be engaged before slinging or tiedown.3. Use proper rated cables and slings for lifting. Positions slings beneath track at front and rear for machine without ripper. Position slings beneath track at front and under ripper at rear for machine with ripper.4. On sharp corners, use corner protectors. Position crane for level machine lift. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine.5. Tiedowns:Front tiedown - use front tiedown eye.Side tiedowns - use inside edge of track shoe.Rear tiedowns - use drawbar, ripper, or outer edge of track shoe.Check state and local laws governing weight, width and length of load.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.
