For Canadian Dealers - In agreement with the Transport Canada Office of Energy and Emissions, we are implementing the Low NOx Rebuild Program in Canada on the same time schedule as in the United States.

PROBLEM
Your dealership has received a letter from Caterpillar with an attached letter from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) pointing out your responsibilities in Low NOx Rebuild Kits. Please refer to that letter for the specifics of your legal requirements under federal law.
All 0R8888 (3126, 6RW1-212), 0R9120, (3176B, 3LZ1-390), 0R9665 (C-10, AKB1-121), and 0R9683 (C-12, ALS1-150) Reman Engines need to be reworked in parts stock.

All 0R8888 (3126, 6RW1-212), 0R9120, (3176B, 3LZ1-390), 0R9665 (C-10, AKB1-121), and 0R9683 (C-12, ALS1-150) Reman Engines.
PARTS NEEDED
1 - Low Nox Software (Flash File) Appropriate flash file from the Corporate Mail Box System, SIS Web or SIS Disk. (All Low NOx Software will be identified in the "Description Box" as Low NOx Kit Software). For 3126, use 188-8064; for 3176B, use 188-8082; for C-10, use 190-0249; and for C-12, use 190-0259.

ACTION REQUIRED
Caterpillar Dealers and full service TEPS Dealers are required to install the Low NOx Rebuild Kit in Affected Engines in Dealer Parts Stock, if they have not been previously reworked.

Rework Procedure
Install the correct flash file. For 3126, use 188-8064; for 3176B, use 188-8082; for C-10, use 190-0249; and for C-12, use 190-0259.
Get the yellow colored 153-8524 low NOx Rebuild Program Label and fill in the date and your dealer code using a black permanent marking pen. Install the Rebuild Program Label on the shell of the engine oil cooler in a readily visible location. This Label is to remain on the engine for the life of the engine.
Complete the Certification Of Overhaul Parts form and file a copy with the work order.
Failure to install a Low NOx Rebuild kit as required, or removal of a Low NOx Rebuild kit once installed may constitute tampering under Section 203(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act.
