Right Angle Drive Components
(1) Bearing cups. (2) Bearing cones. (3) Retaining ring. (4) Pipe plugs. (5) Cross shaft. (6) Bearing nuts. (7) Seal - not used on all models. (8) Set screws. (9) Box. (10) Shims. (11) Carrier. (12) Lock washer. (13) Bevel pinion. (14) Lock nut. (15) Screws. (16) O-ring. (17) Bevel gear.Disassembly

Remove one of the pipe plugs (4) to drain lubricant from the right angle drive. Re-install the plug after the lubricant has drained.2. Remove four screws (15) from the input end of the right angle drive. Lift carrier (11) assembly off box (9).3. Remove shims (10) from between carrier (11) and box (9). Discard shims (10). They must be replaced with new parts during assembly.4. Remove seal (7) from carrier (11) if used. Discard the seal. This must be replaced with a new part during assembly.5. Bend the lock tab of lock washer (12) away from lock nut (14). Remove the lock nut and lock washer from bevel pinion (13).6. Press bevel pinion (13) out of carrier (11). One bearing cone (2) should stay on bevel pinion (13). The other bearing cone and both bearing cups (1) will be inside carrier (11).7. Remove bearing cone (2) from inside carrier (11). Examine both bearing cones carefully. If they are damaged, bearing cone (2) must be removed from bevel pinion (13), and both bearing cups (1) must be pressed out of the carrier. If bearing cones (2) are not damaged, bearing cups (1) should not be removed from carrier (11).8. Discard damaged bearings, and replace with new parts during assembly.9. Remove o-ring (16) from carrier (11), and discard. O-ring (16) must be replaced with a new part during assembly.10. Remove set screws (8) from bearing nut (6) on one end of box (9). Remove the bearing nut.11. Repeat step 10 to remove the bearing nut from the other end of box (9).12. One end of box (9) is stamped "X". Press cross shaft (5) from this end of the box, to remove the cross shaft. While removing the cross shaft, slide bevel gear (17) off the cross shaft, and out of box (9).13. Remove bearing cups (1) and bearing cones (2) from both output ends of cross shaft (5) or box (9).14. Remove retaining ring (3) from its slot in cross shaft (5).15. Clean all parts thoroughly in clean mineral spirits. Wipe dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.16. Inspect all parts for damage or excessive wear. Replace all damaged parts with new parts before assembling the right angle drive.Assembly
