At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the filler cap on the hydraulic oil tank only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Be sure all the hydraulic pressure is released before any fittings, hoses or components are loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted.
d. Carefully loosen the filler cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.e. Carefully loosen the plugs at the rear of the tilt cylinders. When the oil from the loosened plugs stops draining, tighten the two plugs.f. Tighten the filler cap on the hydraulic oil tank.g. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released.5. Open the panel over the steering control valve. 6. Remove strap (1).7. Put identification marks on eight hose assemblies (2) that are connected the steering control valve. Disconnect the hose assemblies from the steering control valve. Put plugs in the hose assemblies to keep dirt and debris out of the hydraulic system. 8. Fasten lifting straps and a hoist to steering control valve (4). Remove three bolts (3) and the washers that hold the steering control valve in position. Remove the steering control valve. The weight of the steering control valve is 59 kg (130 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the steering control valve.9. Check the condition of the O-ring seals used in the ends of eight hose assemblies (2). If the seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.10. Install the steering control valve in the reverse order of removal.11. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.12. Separate the steering frame lock link. See the topic "Separate & Connect Steering Frame Lock Link" in this module.13. Start the machine, and check the operation of the steering.Disassemble Steering Control Valve (STIC Control System)
Start By:a. remove steering control valve (STIC Control System)1. Be sure the steering control valve is thoroughly clean prior to disassembly. 2. Remove manifold (1) and the tube assembly from the steering control valve. 3. Remove the O-ring seal from manifold (1). 4. Remove plug (5), spring (3) and valve (2) from the valve body. Remove shims (4) and the O-ring seal from the plug.5. Remove the four bolts that hold cover (6) to the valve body. Remove the cover (6). 6. Remove the O-ring seals from cover (6). Remove seat (7) from cover (6). Remove the O-ring seal from the seat. 7. Remove inner and outer spring (9) and valve (8) from the valve body.8. Remove valve spool assembly (10) from the valve body.9. Disassemble spool assembly (10) as follows: a. Remove bolt (14), the lockwasher and washer from the spool.b. Remove retainer (13), spring (12) and spacer (11).c. Remove retainer (17) and shims (16) from valve spool (15). 10. Remove plug (18) and the O-ring seal from the valve body. 11.
