Symptom Meaning Repair
The display window is blank. The contrast is too light. Press the up arrow in order to darken the display.
The display window is black. The contrast is too dark. Press the down arrow in order to lighten the display.
The system will not restart after the EPO switch has been pressed. When the EPO switch is pressed, the EPO Reset Circuit Breaker trips open. Open the front door and reset the small EPO Reset Circuit Breaker for the EPO switch.
Fan failure is displayed. Fans are equipped with flow indicators. The outlet for the fan is obstructed. Remove the obstruction from the top of the system.
The doors for exhaust do not open. Ensure that the doors open and close freely.
The fans are not plugged into the printed wire board for the Fan Monitor. Ensure that you have good connections.
The fuses are blown on the printed wire board for the Fan Monitor. Replace any fuses that are blown.
The vacuum increases during start-up of the system. Thermal activity within the flywheel causes an increase in pressure. The increase in pressure causes the system to cycle on and off until the pressure for the vacuum equalizes. Normal condition for initial start-up.
Tachometer reading is 0 or there is no discernable change in rotor speed. The flywheel is not charging. Make sure that the key switch is in the ON-LINE position.
The display panel is beeping. An alarm or notice condition is active. Go to the Event Log to determine what type of Event has occurred.
The system is regularly displaying Notices on the keypad display. The system is providing warning indications and may need attention or service. Keep a record of frequent Notices and contact technical support to discuss possible maintenance options.
Notice event: "System Waiting on Vacuum "The system loses some vacuum and heats up when the flywheel first begins to rotate. Systems that are "cold started" may have collected some moisture inside the flywheel housing. As the system heats up, moisture will evaporate, temporarily causing vacuum pressure to increase. This phenomenon should go away once the system has been running for several hours.
Notice event: "Vacuum gauge warning: Overmaximum value" or "System Waiting On Vacuum" The vacuum pump has failed to start. The vacuum is not maintained. The vacuum pump has failed to achieve required performance. Confirm that auxiliary AC power is provided to the system. Confirm that the vacuum valve (located on bottom of the flywheel housing) is closed. Call technical support if vacuum pump problems continue.
Notice event:"Radial (or axial) bearing vibration warning: Over limit" Something has caused excessive vibration to the system or the bearings may need service. Confirm that the system was not damaged by any outside force. Use the display terminal or UPSView to confirm that levels are <0.25 G). Confirm that the vibration is back in the normal range or check for additional vibration notices in the "Event Log". If excessive vibrations continue, contact technical support.
